What’s the difference between Inks and Watercolors?

When you think of inks, you usually think of black. But inks come in a whole range of colors and consistencies. So what makes them different from paints like watercolor, and what makes painting with inks different than painting with watercolors?

While both watercolor and most inks are water-based mediums, the differences between them make working with them very unique experiences. From staining and lifting to drying time, you have to use different techniques for each one.
